On Sundays, my house is sometimes overrun by cyclists. They ride hard, bang and then suffer on my television, encouraged by supporters in my seat. Sometimes those supporters also stand along the course. And then I look on television to see if I see my supporters standing. ‘There we were, Mum!’
I honestly don't know much about it, but Willem does. He is a superfan. Ever since he was 2 years old. At home there are photos of Willem encouraging the cyclists as a toddler: with a flag on the Kwaremont. Ideally, he would like to become a racing cyclist himself, but for now he sticks to supporting his heroes Wout Van Aert, Tadej Pogacar, Remco Evenepoel and the firm Lotte Kopecky.
